Embrace Community Care is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Female Disability Support Worker to join our team in Charlestown, NSW.

This role is suited to someone who has a genuine passion for supporting people with disability and has the confidence, patience, and experience to work with complex support needs. You will provide person-centred support while promoting the participant’s independence, dignity, safety, and wellbeing.

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will:

  1. Provide person-centred support to a participant with complex support needs.
  2. Assist with personal care, daily living activities, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  3. Support community access, recreational activities, and social engagement.
  4. Provide emotional support and build a positive, respectful relationship with the participant.
  5. Follow individualised support plans and behaviour support strategies where required.
  6. Maintain the participant’s dignity, privacy, safety, and wellbeing at all times.
  7. Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in the participant’s needs and behaviour.
  8. Complete accurate shift notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
  9. Work collaboratively with the participant, family, support team, and other professionals.
  10. Follow Embrace Community Care policies, procedures, NDIS requirements, and relevant legislation.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a female support worker with a strong background in disability support, particularly someone who is confident working with complex clients and challenging situations.

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Previous experience in disability support, aged care, mental health, or a related sector.
  2. Experience supporting clients with complex support needs is highly desirable.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. A calm, patient, and compassionate approach.
  5. The ability to build trust and positive relationships with participants.
  6. A genuine commitment to promoting independence and quality of life.
  7. Ability to follow support plans, policies, and professional directions.
  8. Strong understanding of participant rights, dignity, privacy, and safeguarding.
  9. Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
  10. Valid Australian driver’s licence.
  11. NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  12. Working With Children Check (WWCC).
  13. National Police Check.
  14. NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You.
  15. Australian working rights.
