Embrace Community Care is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Female Disability Support Worker to join our team in Charlestown, NSW.
This role is suited to someone who has a genuine passion for supporting people with disability and has the confidence, patience, and experience to work with complex support needs. You will provide person-centred support while promoting the participant’s independence, dignity, safety, and wellbeing.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will:
- Provide person-centred support to a participant with complex support needs.
- Assist with personal care, daily living activities, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Support community access, recreational activities, and social engagement.
- Provide emotional support and build a positive, respectful relationship with the participant.
- Follow individualised support plans and behaviour support strategies where required.
- Maintain the participant’s dignity, privacy, safety, and wellbeing at all times.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in the participant’s needs and behaviour.
- Complete accurate shift notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Work collaboratively with the participant, family, support team, and other professionals.
- Follow Embrace Community Care policies, procedures, NDIS requirements, and relevant legislation.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a female support worker with a strong background in disability support, particularly someone who is confident working with complex clients and challenging situations.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in disability support, aged care, mental health, or a related sector.
- Experience supporting clients with complex support needs is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, patient, and compassionate approach.
- The ability to build trust and positive relationships with participants.
- A genuine commitment to promoting independence and quality of life.
- Ability to follow support plans, policies, and professional directions.
- Strong understanding of participant rights, dignity, privacy, and safeguarding.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Valid Australian driver’s licence.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- National Police Check.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You.
- Australian working rights.
